Track email campaign results
Pick who gets it. Send at a safe pace. Count the click. Credit the visit.
You press send, then you wait for a number. Broadcast tells you how many emails were delivered, opened and bounced. It cannot tell you which of them earned a visit or a lead, because the click happens somewhere else. This flow joins the pieces that can: the list that decides who is mailed, the send that goes out at the pace your domain has earned, a short link that counts the click and a report that credits the visit. Each stop shows the one setting that connects it, a calculator for the send, and what a month costs.
The list decides who gets it.
Not all of it will.
A campaign goes to one lead list, and the Audience panel counts it before you send. It starts from the people on the list, takes off everyone who must not be mailed, and what is left is Will receive. Each email is checked again just before it goes out, so that number is how many emails are sent, and how many you pay for.
- The list
- Lead list in the Audience panel. A campaign has one list and no filter inside it, so to write to a smaller group, keep that group on a list of its own.
- Waiting
- Awaiting confirmation is a new person on a double opt-in list who has not yet clicked the link in the confirmation email. They are not mailed until they do.
- Taken off
- Unsubscribed, Previously bounced and No email address come off too. So does any address your account has blocked because it bounced for good or reported an email as spam, even on a list the person joined later.
- Opting out
- Every email carries an unsubscribe link. It opens a page where the person leaves everything, which also keeps any list they join later quiet, or keeps only the lists they still want. A mail app’s one-click unsubscribe always leaves everything.
Sent from your own domain.
At the pace it has earned.
A campaign goes out from an address on your sending domain, once its DNS records verify and a person has approved the sender. A new domain is not let loose at full speed, because mailbox providers trust volume that builds up. The hourly limit starts at 200 emails and steps up with the days the domain has been able to send: 1,000 from the third day, 5,000 from the seventh, 20,000 from the fourteenth.
- The pace
- The Delivery step shows Throughput, in emails per hour, and an Est. send window for the people who will receive. Campaigns, sequences and Inbox replies draw on the same hour, and the newest domain on the account sets the limit.
- The sender
- A business name and a postal address come first, on the Sending domains page. The address goes at the foot of every email, as anti-spam law requires, and a person reviews new senders within one business day.
- Replies
- Reply-to address is where replies go, and it is the sender email when you leave it empty. Point it at a mailbox on your domain and replies land in the Inbox, each marked with the campaign it answers.
- Health
- The last seven days are watched. At 2% hard bounces, or spam complaints at 0.05% of sends, the hourly limit is halved and never goes below 200. At 5% bounces, or at least two complaints that make 0.1%, marketing email stops until an admin has looked. Under 200 sends nothing is judged.
The email has no click count.
The link has.
The campaign report counts what happened to the email: delivered, opened, bounced, failed. It does not count clicks. A short link is the address that does. It records every click, then forwards the person to the page you chose, and its destination is where the campaign’s tags go.
- The link
- Make one for the campaign, with a Title your team will recognise and a Custom Alias. Aliases are shared by every Builderify account, so start yours with your name.
- The count
- Clicks counts every click. Unique counts one per IP address in 24 hours. Both are counted the moment the link is opened, before your page has loaded, so they include anything that opens the link before a person does.
- The tags
- End the Destination URL with
?utm_source=newsletter. They are only text in the address, so the page that opens carries them. Flow 05 goes through tagging in full.&utm_medium=email &utm_campaign=spring-sale - Your pages
- A report only sees pages that carry your script tag. Send the link to a page you do not own and you keep the click count and nothing after it.
Three counters, one campaign.
Each counts something else.
Broadcast counts the email. Short Links counts the click. User Journey counts the visit and what the visitor did there, so it is the one that can credit a campaign with a booked meeting or a new lead. The numbers will not match. An email can be opened and never clicked, a click is counted before any page loads, and a visit is recorded only for a visitor who can be tracked.
- Campaigns
- The Campaigns table lists tagged visits by source, medium and campaign, with visits and bounce rate. Your send is one row, and the next send is another.
- The goal
- Add a goal of the type Uses your widget and choose what counts, such as Books a meeting or Leaves their email. The goal’s own report has Where converters come from: each source that converted, with its conversions and its rate.
- The person
- Open a lead and Their journey shows First came from, so you can see which campaign someone arrived on.
- Opens
- Read Opened as a trend. It counts when the small image in the email loads, which is not the same as someone reading it.
Who gets it, and when?
Move the list, the domain and the bounces.
A calculator built from the rules above. Say how big and how tidy the list is, how long the domain has been able to send and how the last seven days went, and see who is left to mail, how fast the send can go out and what it costs. It is a model of those rules, not the product. The tidy, typical and neglected lists are samples chosen to show the arithmetic, and the Audience panel counts your real one, where a person can sit under two reasons at once.
A list that has had a clean-up in the last year: some wait for confirmation, a few have left.
Counted from the later of approval and DNS verification. The newest domain on the account sets the pace.
1,000 sent, 3 hard bounces (0.3%), no complaints.

Once the domain has been able to send for two weeks and stays healthy, the same send takes about 5 min.
Three things get counted.
All from one balance.
The flow draws on one balance of Usage Credits. Every campaign email, every new person who joins a list and every tracked visitor journey has a rate on the pricing page. Every account gets 250 free credits a month, packs start at $9, and purchased credits never expire.
Will receive, not the size of the list.
Each one goes to the same people.
People who join a list.
Visits to pages that carry your script tag. A click that lands on one is one.
- Campaign emails 0.5 credits per recipient 3,200
- New leads 1 credit per new person, once 40
- Visitor journeys 0.1 credits per tracked visitor 80
It fits inside the free credits, with -3,070 to spare.
Over by 3,070 credits. One Growth pack (5,000 credits, $29) covers that for about 1 month at this size. Purchased credits never expire.
- The email line is what the send costs: 0.5 credits for each recipient, charged once the email has been accepted for delivery. People who are taken off the list are never sent to, so they are never charged.
- Short links, their clicks, the tags, goals and the reports have no rate of their own.
- The page a click lands on counts as a page load when your widget is on it: 10 credits per 1,000.
- If credits run out mid-send, the campaign pauses and the people still waiting stay queued. Top up and press Resume, and they are sent.
Six ways the send line goes quiet,
and the setting behind each.
- Cause
- The four reasons are taken off first: awaiting confirmation, unsubscribed, previously bounced and no email address. An address your account has blocked is skipped too, even though no row names it. On a double opt-in list a new signup waits until they click the link in their confirmation email.
- Fix
- Open the list in Leads to see who is held back. People stuck on Awaiting confirmation have not clicked the link in their confirmation email yet.
- Cause
- A domain that has only just been able to send starts at 200 emails an hour, and steps up to 1,000 from the third day, 5,000 from the seventh and 20,000 from the fourteenth. The days are counted from the later of the domain’s approval and its DNS verification, and the newest domain on the account sets the pace. Campaigns, sequences and Inbox replies share the same hour.
- Fix
- Nothing is broken and there is nothing to switch off. Send the first campaign to a smaller list, or let the domain age. Est. send window in the Delivery step shows the pace the send will really use.
- Cause
- Sending halts, and the people still waiting stay queued, when the sender cannot send: the account is out of credits, the sending domain is not approved or its DNS no longer verifies, or bounces or spam complaints crossed the limit. The sender is checked again before every email, not only when the campaign starts.
- Fix
- Fix what the notice names on the Sending domains page, or top up credits, then press Resume. The people still waiting are sent from where it stopped.
- Cause
- The campaign report counts Delivered, Opened, Bounced and Failed. It has no click count, because the links in your email are sent exactly as you wrote them.
- Fix
- Put a short link in every button and read the clicks under Short Links. Tag its destination so User Journey can name the visits that follow.
- Cause
- Replies go to the Reply-to address on the Sending domains page, or to the sender email when it is empty. They land in the Inbox only when that address is a mailbox on a domain whose records point to Builderify.
- Fix
- Create the mailbox in Inbox, then enter its address as the Reply-to address.
- Cause
- Many mail apps tell the page nothing about where a click came from, and a visit with no tags and no referrer is Direct.
- Fix
- End the short link’s Destination URL with utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. Why traffic reads as Direct.
